Heuchera villosa 'Jadeite' PPAF
Perennial
Height 10"
Spread 14"
The Heuchera FYRE WING™ Series represents a significant breakthrough as the world's first lace-leaf heuchera collection, featuring seven distinct varieties. Heuchera FYRE WING™ 'Jadeite' showcases a vigorous mound of exceptionally fuzzy, emerald-green leaves in a broadly palmate, lace-like shape. This easy-care perennial provides worry-free, low-maintenance beauty; it is extremely cold hardy, thrives in heat and humidity, stays naturally compact with no structural pruning required, and is a low maintenance joy. Plus, its small stature allows it to easily tuck into any tight container or garden space.
Water
'Jadeite' prefers well draining soil and to dry out between waterings. So before grabbing the hose or watering can, do the 2” test. Simply stick your finger 2” down into the soil. If it’s still moist, hold on watering until it dries down. If it’s dry, you can water.
Fertilizer
This plant doesn’t need very much fertilizer. Simply apply one annual application of a balanced slow-release fertilizer in the spring, paired with a simple top-dressing of organic compost.
Pruning
Because ‘Jadeite’ naturally grows as a tight, compact mound, you never need to cut it back to control its size or shape. However, this plant will benefit from a quick Spring clean up to maintain the plant’s health and appearance. With clean shears, simply trim tattered foliage in early spring to stimulate fresh growth.
Spring
Fresh, emerald-green foliage wakes up with a uniquely soft, fuzzy texture. This is the ideal window for a quick spring tidy, simply snipping away older leaves to clear a path for the vigorous new lace-leaf growth.
Summer
Dainty, white flower stems gracefully rise above the mounding foliage in late spring and early summer. The plant naturally maintains its tight, compact shape throughout the heat without stretching or requiring any structural pruning.
Fall
The broad, emerald-green leaves develop a beautiful, light bronze cast as the seasons shift. The low-growing mound stays clean and structurally pristine, serving as a low-maintenance, worry-free blender for late-season arrangements.
Winter
Exceptionally cold hardy, this tough selection remains evergreen to semi-evergreen through the frost. The tiny hairs across the fuzzy leaf surfaces beautifully capture morning frost and dew, creating a jewel-like winter accent.
