Description

The Heuchera FYRE WING™ Series represents a significant breakthrough as the world's first lace-leaf heuchera collection, featuring seven distinct varieties. Heuchera FYRE WING™ 'Heliodor' offers beautiful multi-season color. In spring, deeply cut foliage emerges with an orange tinge before shifting to a glowing chartreuse that deepens into fall. It provides worry-free, low-maintenance beauty; it is highly cold hardy, requires no structural pruning, and its compact size means it easily tucks into any garden spot.

Plant Care

Water

'Heliodore' prefers well draining soil and to dry out between waterings. So before grabbing the hose or watering can, do the 2” test. Simply stick your finger 2” down into the soil. If it’s still moist, hold on watering until it dries down. If it’s dry, you can water.

Fertilizer

This plant doesn’t need very much fertilizer. Simply apply one annual application of a balanced slow-release fertilizer in the spring, paired with a simple top-dressing of organic compost.

Pruning

Because ‘Heliodore’ naturally grows as a tight, compact mound, you never need to cut it back to control its size or shape. However, this plant will benefit from a quick Spring clean up to maintain the plant’s health and appearance. With clean shears, simply trim tattered foliage in early spring to stimulate fresh growth.

Seasons of Interest

Deeply cut, lacy foliage wakes up, emerging with a unique and glowing warm orange tinge. This is the perfect time for a quick spring clean-up, simply snipping away old, weathered foliage to make room for the vibrant new growth.

The orange blush matures into a stable, radiant lime-green and chartreuse. The compact mound holds its vibrant color perfectly through the heat without stretching, and it shoots up airy flower stems without requiring any structural shaping.

Rather than fading out, the luminous chartreuse foliage deepens in saturation. It remains structurally tight and pristine, making it the perfect low-maintenance, worry-free anchor for autumn container displays.

Highly cold hardy, the compact mound quietly stays semi-evergreen through the freeze, maintaining its place in your garden beds until next spring.
